Hilton Columbus Downtown, Tower 2; shot for Turner Construction

Location: Columbus, OH
Shoot Date:
November 22, 2022
With panoramic skyline views, 1,000 guest rooms, and a seamless integration between the existing hotel and a new 460,000-square-foot tower, the Hilton Columbus Downtown is the largest hotel in Ohio.
Situated on a triangular parcel of land in between railroad tracks and the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the expansion includes an additional tower – rising more than 350 feet into the skyline - with 463 new guest rooms, multiple food and beverage concepts, and two striking ballrooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the skyline. A rooftop bar is positioned as the jewel within Columbus Hilton’s crown, which is flanked by a social terrace on either end, offering endless views of the surrounding areas.
The towers are connected, publicly, across N. High Street through use of the iconic “Coleman Skybridge.” Existing site conditions and grading are optimized to provide separate and distinct public entrances for the main hotel lobby and signature restaurant. A large porte cochére creates a dramatic architectural feature at the entrance and serves as the “front door” of the newly appointed campus, located off Ohio Center Way. Complementing the architectural façade of the surrounding environment, elements of the Peter Eisenman-designed Convention Center are echoed in the exterior design with a contemporary combination of glass, precast, and metal panels. The design team was also able to complement the existing hotel’s brick and massing. The hotel itself offers over 47,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which supports the city’s ability to attract large conference groups. Cooper Carry was the prime architect in collaboration with Columbus-based Meyers + Associates Architecture. (Cooper Carry)
